Fishing Report 02/22/2011

Redfish are still out around the Cape Lookout Rock Jetty, this past Sunday there was a good bite most of the day. The fish were ranging from 18 inches to 25 inches, live mud minnows were the ticket on catching the bigger ones. We do have Live Mud minnows in stock. There has been a few Black Drum mixed in with the Redfish. Most of them are being caught on bait shrimp fished on the bottom. Had a few reports come in about some Redfish, Black Drum and Dog Fish being caught up around the Fort Macon Rocks from the beach. There has been a great bite of Redfish around the Coast Guard Station Docks in the last few weeks. But remember that’s a closed area from the water. The only way to fish it is to have military access then you are able to go in by car and fish off the docks.

There is still some Rock Fish action up on the Trent River in New Bern to catch. Also, heard that there was a few shad starting to show up in the rivers. We do have some “Shad Darts” and “Small Curly Tails” for shad fishing if you want to give it a try.

We should start to see changes every week with warming temperatures that we are having. The water is all ready warming up each day, let's just hope for no more cold weather. “Spring” is just around the corner.

Dont forget about the Fishermans Post School this Saturday. Its going to be a great time don't miss out.  Hope to see you there.
