Fishing Report 02/04/2016

Let’s hope, the ole Ground Hog is right and Spring is just around the corner. So far, with the mild weather we've had for the first week of February it seems like we aren't going to have too bad of a winter. This winter, we haven't had any cases with the water getting too cold hurting any of our fishery. So, that could mean big things this coming up season for the Speckled Trout fishing since we had a ton of small fish in the area all fall.
Fishing over the last week or so has been pretty slow, even though we're having some warm days most of the fish have moved on or set into their winter pattern of not feeding that much.
Tim, from the shop did catch some nice Speckled Trout over at Radio Island last week but hit some other areas without much action. He fished yesterday hitting some of the creeks along Hwy 24 and picked up a few Trout. There's been some fish coming from the canal system around Atlantic Beach and I've heard of fish being caught at the Marine Fishery Dock. There's been a few Black Drum hanging under the docks in the canals and creeks along the waterway.
Neuse River creeks have been producing some Speckled Trout action along with some great Rock Fish action. The best bite seems to be on the Oriental side up toward New Bern. Most of the creeks in that area are holding fish, the best action seems to be in the back of the creeks.
From the Surf – there's been a few Puffers and Dog Sharks along the beaches for anglers to catch.
When the weather allows, you can hit AR 330 and catch some Sea Bass, Capt.Chris went out earlier this week and caught 30 or so having no problem bringing home his limit just a few miles off the beach.
Last week, I did hear a few boats made it out to the Big Rock catching a few Wahoo just south of the rock.
So, not too much going on but there's a few fish to be caught. Just don’t let Cabin Fever set in on the next pretty day get out and try your luck.
